Melissa J. Rye

Ms. Rye is a 1998 University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, graduate where she was a member of The Denver Law Review.  Having worked for a number of years as a paralegal in complex commercial litigation prior to law school, Ms. Rye began her career as a practicing attorney returning to complex commercial litigation, insurance defense and employment law.  She is licensed in both Colorado and Texas.  After gaining valuable trial experience and honing her litigation skills, she made the decision that her experience, knowledge and passion would be best utilized helping children and families.

While shifting her practice area, Ms. Rye served as a CASA in Arapahoe County, and performed volunteer work for Metro Volunteer Lawyers, Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center and the Rocky Mountain Immigration Network.  All these experiences helped guide her to become a Guardian ad litem and refocus her practice on families and child welfare.

During her practice in the Juvenile Courts in Colorado, Ms. Rye has had the pleasure of practicing in the Family Integrated Treatment Court in Jefferson County, as well as practicing in all areas of juvenile law in many of the Colorado Juvenile Courts throughout the state.

Ms. Rye is a passionate advocate for children and families. With 22 years as a practicing attorney, she brings compassion and competence when helping her clients navigate a complex and challenging system in order to achieve the best outcome possible.  She expertly guides her clients through legal issues with honest advice and a tireless effort to help devise the best legal strategy for success.

Ms. Rye has extensive trial experience and an exceptional reputation, not only as a trial attorney, but as an attorney who always advocates for and keeps her client’s best interest in the forefront.  Her creativity in forming solutions, her incisive ability to identity issues, and her attention to detail have allowed her clients to be successful and thrive under her representation.

At Timlin and Rye, P.C., Ms. Rye practices in the area of Juvenile Law advocating for children as a Guardian ad litem and for families, representing parents, foster parents, relatives and placement providers for children.  She also practices in the area of Family Law focusing on custody and parenting time.
